*From my original Wordpress blog c. 2015, just before I first released The Exquisite Abstract.

--- It is a weird world indeed. I grew up buying books from 50p bargain bins, picking up dog-eared and yellow-smiling paperbacks from table top sellers in London. I would begrudgingly shuffle to the local library knowing I had to catch up on whatever college lessons I was too young to appreciate, instead ending up borrowing Hubert Selby Jr novels. I would return said novel two weeks too late and happily pay the fine. I would physically make poetry books from "coupon-band", cardboard, carpet tape and string to experience how it all binds together. I would stack novella up to my own height and continuously recycle my collection if it starts veering over the shelf length.

Now, a decade or so later, I publish my first book on a digital-only format, like a full convert preaching machines and such. A format that can only be read in a certain format, using a certain bunch of bull criteria.

I support the independent and the unsung. And whether or not it comes in a package that is physically palpable in the end does not matter. The physical copies will come in time, the balance in art vs commerce will always be a burden. As long as the content is there to disperse, all is as intended.

All mediums, physical or otherwise are fragile, all have an end point to reach. An idea, though is forever.
